June
Roses and Alliums
Blooms bring the garden to life in the summer, with a sea of colour and a fragrant scent.

Enjoy the colour and scent that the roses bring to the garden.
June is a generous month in the garden. The weather is “usually great at this time of year”, as Phoebe puts it, and planting feels full but still fresh.
By late spring and early summer “the wisteria bloom will be almost over but the leaves will have come in so there’s a lovely green canopy,” Phoebe says. Underneath, “the herbaceous and woody perennials all start to bloom and continue to do so for the summer. Other bulbs like alliums will be out too.” This is also a key time for roses, which sit well against the clipped box parterres and strong lines of the paths.
What to look for
– Roses in bloom, framed by box and steel structures
– Allium globes at or near their peak above the planting
– A fresh green wisteria canopy softening the hard edges of the pergola
March
Spring Starts
March brings the first daffodils and narcissi. Come early to catch the garden before the crowds arrive.
April
Bulbs in Full Bloom
April is one of the best months to visit, with tulips across the beds before the canopy fills in.
May
Dramatic Wisteria
May is the month many people wait for. Blossoms drape across the pergolas and the scent fills the space.
